Heebing

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

I recently came across the phrase ‘Heeb’ and ‘Heebing’, and it brought me back a couple of years back when my bankroll at PokerStars was just $0.28!

Heebing: Heebing is a poker slang term for turning a small online bankroll into a giant roll. Heebing is a term made famous by the NWP member “neverheeb”. Neverheeb was known for heebing up 100-200 dollar rolls into 60k! A truly remarkable feat.” – NeverWinPoker

I remember that it was a Saturday night and I was bored to death and had next to nothing in my PokerStars account. Looking at my measly bankroll of only $0.28 I decided to play some micro Limit Hold’em to try and make enough money for a $1.20 two table NLE sit and go and work my way up from there.

This really did happen and it’s a strange feat that I will always remember. This is how I Heebed over $200.00 from $0.28!

Micro Limit Hold’em: buy-in $0.28 > grossed $1.20
$1.20 two table NLH sit and go: buy-in $1.20 > grossed $7.20
$5.50 NLH single table sit and go: buy-in $5.50 > grossed $13.50 (bankroll $15.20)
$11.00 NLH single table sit and go: buy-in $11.00 > grossed $45.00 (bankroll $49.20)
$39.00 NLH Sunday Million Satellite: buy-in $39.00 > grossed $215.00 Tournament Dollars

Sold the Tournament Dollars for $200.00 for a grand total Heeb of $210.20!

Heeb duration: two days.

Go to PokerStars and Heeb a 100% poker bonus up to $50.00 free - Use PokerStars Bonus Code: First2007

Doyle Brunson’s online poker room, Doyle’s Room, is no longer accepting American poker players to their online poker room. As a result, even Doyle Brunson needs to find a new room to play at.

Doyle Brunson

Doyle Brunson, also known as Texas Dolly, was spotted playing some high limit HORSE with Patrik Antonius at Full Tilt Poker recently. His chat was friendly and to the point.

Doyle’s Room switched all their American cash accounts to Full Tilt Poker recently. Obviously some kind of deal was made between the two online poker rooms.

I for one welcome Doyle Brunson to Full Tilt Poker. He may not be one of the official Team FullTilt players, but he’s still one of the best at the game and even having Doyle Brunson there as a player is a treat for some of us.

Really Bad Instructional Poker Video

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

The title of his poker video… Poker Lesson #1 - Never let avatars push you around

So bad…

There are so many things wrong in this video that I am speechless.

Now, how do I get to play with this guy for real money?!

Poker Frequent Player Points = Free Porsche!

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

Dario Minieri used his PokerStars Frequent Player Points ( FPPs) to bag himself a free Porsche Cayman S.. He’s the first PokerStars player to order a car using his FPP.

He ordered it last year, but it finally arrived and delivered to his home in Italy. PokerStars will give you the car, but anyone who orders a car from PokerStars using their FPPs must pay for any options, taxes and delivery. Still a good deal if you ask me!

So how many FPPs does it take to buy a car that goes from 0-60 in under 5.2 seconds? 3,000,000.00 FPPs, and if you want to trade in your FPPs for an Aston Martin V8 Vantage instead, then your looking at 5,000,000.00 FPPs.

Dario Minieri played a lot of poker with higher limits to achieve this feat, but thankfully, PokerStars offers many affordable items in their FPP Store for us who can only dream of accumulating three million points.

PokerStars’ FPP Store has everything from hats, poker books, t-shirts, TV’s, and well, cars!

How PokerStars rewards Frequent Player Points (FPP):

1. Earn FPPs for cash game play
First Frequent Player Point (FPP) is awarded for playing a hand in which the rake reaches:

$0.40 for fixed limit poker games with stakes $1/$2 and lower
$0.40 for NL/PL poker games with blinds $1/$2 and lower
$1.00 for all other games

Second FPP is awarded for playing a hand in which the rake reaches:

$2.00 for all 6-max tables (this doesn’t apply for games being played 6- handed at 10/9/8 player tables - just 6-max tables)
$3.00 for all other tables

Third FPP is awarded for playing a hand in which the rake reaches $5.00.

2. Earn FPPs for tournament play
Five (5) FPPs are awarded for each $1 in tournament fees paid.

For example, playing in a poker tournament with $20 buy-in and $2 tournament fee, each player will be awarded 10 FPPs. *Note that partial Frequent Player Points are always rounded to the nearest whole number.

In a $5 buy-in Sit & Go poker tournament with only a $0.50 fee, 3 FPPs (instead of 2.5) will be awarded to each player who played poker in the tournament.

In a $5 buy-in 4-player Heads-Up Sit & Go poker tournament with only a $0.25 fee, 1 FPP (instead of 1.25) will be awarded to each player who played poker in the tournament.

Please note that “FreePlay” tournaments do not award FPPs. You can play poker for play money at their free tables, but these poker games and tournaments are not part of the PokerStars FPP program.

So what are you waiting for? Get to PokerStars today and start earning your FPP’s and who knows… maybe you’ll cash in a free car too!

Get your free PokerStars cash by using PokerStars Bonus Code: First2007 when opening up a new real-money account. You’ll get a 100% match bonus up to $50.00.

Jamie Gold Settles Poker Winnings Dispute

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

Jamie Gold, the winner of the 2006 WSOP Main Event has agreed to a settlement without litigation with Bruce Crispin Leyser.

Jamie Gold and Bruce Crispin Leyser made a verbal deal prior to the Main Event that would give each other a cut of any of the earnings either of them made in the WSOP Main Event.

As you know, Jamie Gold won the tournament and received $12,000,000.00 for finishing first. Bruce Crispin Leyser quickly made it aware to everyone that he and Jamie Gold made a deal that would give him half of the winnings, six million dollars. Apparently Bruce Crispin Leyser even has the verbal deal on an answering machine with him and Jamie Gold talking about the deal.

Whatever the details were of the deal, the US Court held six million of the winnings in an interesting bearing account until the matter was dissolved. Jamie Gold never gave details of the deal but has always stated that he intended to give Bruce Crispin Leyser some of his winnings.

The final amount of the agreement has not been disclosed.

Who is Jamie Gold?

Jamie Gold is a former television producer and Hollywood agent, turned poker pro. He was the chip leader of the WSOP Main Event on day four and never looked back to win the tournament. He beat out a record 8,772 players.

He worked with WSOP Champions Johny Chan and Chris Moneymaker on an upcoming television show and that’s when Johny Chan started to mentor Jamie Gold.

Jamie Gold took what he learnt from his mentor and won his first poker tournament in 2005 and within the next twelve months finished in the money in other poker tournaments seven more times.

Jamie Gold said he didn’t want to win the WSOP Main Event tournament because of the attention he would get and the responsibilities of being an ambassador to poker. He said he would much rather win the cash than the fame. Well, he got both.

Shortly after winning the Main Event Jamie Gold became a representative of Bodog Poker and just recently Bodog let him go. Bodog has said that they are focusing their marketing efforts overseas and Jamie Gold did not fit in with that plan. That sounds pretty fishy, as I think any poker player from anywhere in the world would have known about his remarkable win.

Many people dislike Jamie Gold, probably because of his poker style in the Main Event. He had a knack of goading his opponents to either call or fold their hands.

Although Jamie Gold has the name for poker, “Gold”, he never did get accepted like other former WSOP Main Event winners.

Maybe Jamie Gold would have been in a different situation if he had been representing PokerStars? All their past champions have been received very well by poker fans from allover the world.

I look forward to seeing how well Jamie Gold does in this year’s WSOP, and it will be interesting to see which, if any, online poker room he represents.

Here is a short video on Jamie Gold being schooled by ‘Texas’ Doyle Brunson in Jamie’s first High Stakes televised poker game appearance:
