Big Changes to the 2007 WSOP
Friday, March 30th, 2007
The 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is only two months away and this year’s event has a number of changes in store.
This year’s event has been pushed up and to be started on June 1st. This way ESPN can televise the event prior to the chaotic and competitive fall sports TV schedule.
Along with the record 55 events slated for this year, there are other changes that will benefit the players. Now every higher buy-in event will also have a lower buy-in. So for those who could not afford the $50,000 HORSE event last year, can now play the same game for as little as $2,500.00.
Some of this year’s WSOP events will have special “World Champion” status for the winners along with the standard bracelet winners for the rest of the tournaments. It’s an attempt by Harrah’s to add prestige to the other poker games other than the overly popular Texas Hold’em game.
Another big change in this year’s tournament structure are the starting chips for each event. In the past your starting chips were matched with the buy-in of the tournament. So if you played in an event in the past and you paid $1,500.00 for the buy-in, you received 1,500 in starting chips. In past Main Events you received 10,000 starting chips for your $10,000.00 buy-in.
Now the starting chips for all the WSOP events are doubled from previous years. So now the Main Event will have all players start with 20,000 chips instead of 10,000. This is to allow more play before the increasing blind structures force players into decisions they wouldn’t usually make.
The blinds have also been adjusted for a slower pace. More starting chips and slower blinds are what make for good poker, in my opinion. The good tournament poker players will be licking their chops with these two changes alone.
Harrah’s are expecting 10,000 poker players to signup for this year’s Main Event, which would make it the largest of its kind in history. We’ll see if that many players actually signup. Me personally, I think there will be less than that. We’ll see though, I really do hope that they do indeed get 10,000 or more.
Get your seat to the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) No LImit Texas Hold’em Main Event by playing WSOP satellite tournaments which are running every day at these online poker rooms: PokerStars, FullTilt Poker, and Absolute Poker.
Only two months away… I can’t wait!

Greg Raymer’s PokerStars Account Hacked
Wednesday, March 21st, 2007
After repeatedly trying numerous different passwords, a persistent password hacker was able to login into Greg “Fossilman” Raymer’s PokerStars account.
Once this hacker had access to Greg Raymer’s PokerStars bankroll, the hacker quickly opened multiple heads-up, sit and go tables and started chip dumping Greg Raymer’s money into a relatively new PokerStars account by the name of “Ikeyrson“.
Greg Raymer is a very popular player on PokerStars and whenever he sits down to play, there are always Railbirds watching him. These Railbirds found Greg Raymer’s play suspicious and quickly informed PokerStars Support about the activity.
PokerStars quickly notified Greg Raymer and suspended both accounts before any money could be transferred to a third party account.
Greg Raymer even admitted that his password was not as good as it should have been. Let’s all take that as a lesson, make your password strong.

Crazy Pineapple at Paradise Poker
Tuesday, March 20th, 2007Crazy Pineapple is gaining popularity quickly as more Texas Hold’em players are looking for more action. Although Texas Hold’em is still the game of choice for most online poker players; Crazy Pineapple offers almost the same game, but entices much more action.
Playing Texas Hold’em smartly requires the player to fold many hands pre-Flop. Some professional poker players even fold up to 90%+ of the cards dealt to them when playing Texas Hold’em. This requires a lot of patience and can induce boredom for some.
This is where Crazy Pineapple can help make things more interesting. Crazy Pineapple is identical to Texas Hold’em but with a twist. You are dealt three cards instead of two and you must fold one of the three cards dealt to you after the Flop. Crazy Pineapple will encourage players to see many more Flops compared to Texas Hold’em, which in turn will create much more action and bigger pots.
Extra strategy is involved in playing Crazy Pineapple. For example, you must sometimes decide whether to discard your current “best hand” after the flop in order to potentially draw to an even better hand such as a flush or a straight.
So if you want to try something different and that offers more action than Hold’em, then I recommend you try playing Crazy Pineapple at Paradise Poker.
It won’t be too long before we see more online poker rooms offering Crazy Pineapple. For now though, I recommend playing Crazy Pineapple at ParadisePoker.
Playing different poker games not only keeps poker interesting, but also expands your knowledge of poker which will make you an overall better poker player. Who knows, maybe Crazy Pineapple will be your best and most profitable poker game.
